MTSS- Collaboration
In order for MTSS to be successful, many teams need to work together. All teams involved came together to share our "Why" and share what we needed from one another to be successful.
MTSS Child Study Team
Roles were assigned as a result of our MTSS collaboration meeting. This information was at the top of each of our monthly MTSS dockets to maintain transparency and always have a consistent space to keep the information that was valuable to each team member.
Reflection
"...We have been working many hours to ensure our students get the right interventions to match their needs. It is very frustrating when we do not have enough interventions to go around. We know that the earlier a student receives an intervention, the more impactful it is. In fact, interventions given before third grade are twice as effective as interventions given after third grade (Lovett, Frijters, Wolf, Steinback, Sevcik, et al., 2017). We have been able to provide great interventions carried out by our reading specialists in grades 1-3. However, all of the seats on their buses are full. There is no room for our struggling fourth grade students in our English Dual language classroom. What makes this revelation worse is that these students are the furthest behind in the whole school..."
Case Management
We moved to a case management model in March to ensure no students were falling through the cracks.
MTSS Student Plans
In SY 21-22, each student will have their own page in a spreadsheet to ensure data is kept together. This came about as part of the MTSS team feedback that information was not easy to find and duplicative work needed to be minimized whenever possible.
End of Year MTSS Survey
I created a survey to give to teachers at the end of the year to ascertain how comfortable they are with MTSS, how valuable the process is, and ask for input on how we can make the process even better for all stakeholders
